Brief Bio: 

Bashiru I. I. Saeed hails from Walewale in the Northern Region of Ghana. He attended Ghana Secondary School and Tamale Secondary School where he obtained his GCE ‘O’ level and GCE ‘A’ level certificates respectively. He holds teacher’s Certificate “A” from E. P. Training College. He is also a proud alumnus of Kumasi Polytechnic, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics. He received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2003 and 2009 respectively. Between 2011 and 2014, he studied for a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Statistics at Jiangsu University in China.

Bashiru I. I. Saeed is an educationist and has taught at both basic and secondary schools in the Northern and Ashanti Regions of Ghana before joining Kumasi Polytechnic where he rose through the ranks. Among the management positions he has held in the Polytechnic over the years include Head of Department for Mathematics and Statistics and Dean of faculty of Applied Sciences. He has also served and continue to serve on a number of committees at the management level.

He has attended and chaired several seminars, workshops and conferences in the pursuit and sharing of knowledge and skills both home and abroad. He has supervised and examined scores of research theses at post graduate levels including MBA, MPhil and PhD. Bashiru I. I. Saeed has dozens of research papers to his credit. He has presented several international conference papers and has had many refereed papers published in international Journals. He has also reviewed several scientific Journal articles including HIV & AIDS Review, Elsevier, BMC Obesity, Oxford University, Journal of Applied Statistics, Taylor & Francis Group, Journal of Statistics and Mathematical Sciences, British Journal of Mathematics & Computer Science, Asian Journal of Mathematics & Computer Research and serves as editorial board member of Global Journal of Health Science. He is also an academic assessor for promotion for most Tertiary Institutions in Ghana.

He has made enormous contributions to the development of Ghana Association of Statistics Students (GASS), which he is currently the national patron. For his outstanding scholarship, innovation, commitment and passion for excellence, Bashiru I. I. Saeed has received several awards. He is a member of both local and international professional bodies including Health Economic Network/Social Science Research Network National, International Statistical Institute (ISI), Ghana Statistical Association (GSA) and Mathematics Association of Ghana (MAG).

As a result of his passion for continuously sharpening his skills in the application of statistics, Bashiru I. I. Saeed has obtained Certificates through a couple of online short courses in the following areas: Structural Equation Model and R software by Geoffrey Hubona, Georgia State University in 2013, Basic R for Epidemiology, Regression Analysis and Advance Epidemiology Methods at King of Songkla University, Thailand in 2008, Analysis of Longitudinal Data using R at King of Songkla University, Thailand in 2009, Climate Change at University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2013 and Data Science in 2015.

Bashiru I. I. Saeed is married to Ayisha Mohammed with three lovely children Muhsin Bashiru, Zainab Bashiru and Umar Bashiru.
