KsTU Receives Fresh Students
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has opened its doors to freshmen and women who have been admitted to pursue various programmes of study for the 2020/ 2021 academic year. After a long school break due to the emergence of COVID-19, KsTU is pleased to receive its first year students for the new academic year and entreats all students to comply with all the COVID-19 protocols as they go about their studies.
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU has honored its staff who retired in 2019/2020 academic year. The brief but impressive event took place in the Council Chamber of the University on the 30th November, 2020. Welcoming the retirees, the Registrar of the Institution Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye informed the gathering about the fact that ordinarily, the event should have included the entire University community amidst merriment. However, COVID-19 did not allow the usual end of year get-together with the retirees.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin Constituency Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi who also doubles as the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing has donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Kumasi Technical University to support the Institution’s fight against the Corona Virus (COVID-19).
The items donated included some packs of tissue papers, a box of liquid soap, three boxes of sanitizers and 200 face shields to support the University as it fights the deadly COVID-19.
The 2019/2020 executives of Pharmaceutical Sciences Students Association of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) have presented some items to the Pharmaceutical Science Department of the University. The executives who showed this kind gesture were led by Bright K. Amegadzi. The act of magnanimity was shown to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences on Friday 20th November, 2020 at a short ceremony held in the office of the Head of Department Dr. George Owusu Dapaah.
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in collaboration with its partners has organised the 6th International Conference on Applied Sciences and Technology (ICAST) 2020. The two-day event which was held through virtual means due to COVID-19 had as its theme “Technical and Vocational Education: The Bedrock for National Development”. The annual Conference is aimed at bringing together researchers, experts and academics from educational institutions as well as various communities to exchange and share ideas and knowledge through discussions of a wide range of issues.
The Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, H.E George Ayisi-Boateng affectionately called “Onipa Nua” has paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Ing. Professor Nana Osei-Wusu Achaw.
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has in its bid to support government’s efforts towards preventing the continuous spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic has manufactured “Foot-Operated-Handwashing-Machines” which has been donated some selected Government Institutions.
It is worth mentioning that the University was among the first to innovate such a machine and after its acceptance by the general public thus has produced on a large scale for donation. The machine makes use of the foot in its operations and thus eliminate the likelihood of contaminating one’s hand in the process.
Accompanied by senior level personnel in the Company, that Stat Insrance) has in fulfillment of its corporate social responsibility, donated an amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis GH 20,000 to Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) 28th August, 2020.
The Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University has in a colourful ceremony inaugurated the first ever University Appeals Board chaired by Lawyer Chris Adomako-Kwakye.
The five member board namely; Lawyer Chris Adomako-Kwakye (Chairman), Nana Yaa Asante Nnuro (Member), Rt. Rev Christopher Nyarko Andam (Member), Lawyer Samuel Aryeh (Member) and Dr. Mrs. Helena Hassan (Retired Librarian, KNUST) is an assemble of varied expertise aimed at ensuring qualitative representation on the Board.
As part of the strategies to make Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) safer for both staff and students in the era of COVID-19, the KsTU COVID-19 Response Team ensures that all the necessary protocols are observed on our campuses, both Main and the Adako-Jachie. Among other things, the Team moves round to ensure the wearing of face masks during lectures and periods for practicals.
