  1. STUDENTS’ ADMISSION, PROGRESSION AND GRADUATION:

To be admitted into B. Tech.  Applied Statistics (4years)  with options in

  • Environmental Statistics
  • Financial Statistics
  • Health Statistics

 a candidate must, satisfy the minimum University and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics entry requirements.

Students Admission and its Equivalence

WASSCE/SSSCE Holders who have credits (A1-C6/A-D Respectively) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in Three Elective Subjects with an Aggregate Score of 24 or better in the relevant Area of Study (Including Agricultural Science or General Science or General Arts with Geography and Economics options or Business with Elective Mathematics option).

OR

MATURE STUDENTS who have attained the age of 25 years or above at the time of Application and have credits in Five (5) GCE ‘O Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, in addition to passing an Entrance Examination and /or Interview.

OR

ADVANCED LEVEL Holders with credits in at least Five (5) subjects at the GCE ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least two passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level obtained in Five (5) years and above.

OR

All HND and Other Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be considered to Third (3) year.

Retention and Withdrawals

Candidate may carry a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours and a maximum of twenty one (21) credit hours per semester. For continuing standing in the programme, full- time candidates must generally obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 1.5 at end of every semester of the programme.

A student who obtains a CGPA of less than 1.5 and trailing more than 4 courses at the end of the resit examinations shall be withdrawn.

There shall be Semester by Semester resit for students who have repeated to redeem themselves.

Employment:   Successful graduates from the B.Tech. Applied Statistics programme will be able to take jobs in;

COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAMME:

  • Semester – By- Semester Structure/ Schedule of Courses, Showing the Credit Value of Each Course

A full semester course ranges between fifteen (15) and twenty-one (21) credit hours. No student shall register for less fifteen (15) or more than twenty- one (21) hours without the approval of the Dean of the faculty.

  • A Course of one (1) hour theory per week for a semester is worth one (1) credit.
  • A course of two (2) hours practical activities per week for a semester is worth one (1) credit hour.
