Kumasi Technical University Signs MoU with Yemyung Graduate University, South Korea

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has taken a significant step towards international academic advancement through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yemyung Graduate University, a prestigious Christian institution based in South Korea.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, marks the beginning of a promising collaboration between the two institutions. The agreement is set to cover key areas including staff exchange, cultural programmes, lecture support and academic assistance.

Welcoming the delegation from Yemyung Graduate University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, expressed his interest for the partnership. He noted that the collaboration aligns with the university’s vision to foster global academic relationships that benefits both staff and students.

Prof. Dwomoh further highlighted the importance of strengthening KsTU’s Guidance and Counseling Directorate, emphasising the need for more professionally trained personnel. He proposed that the MoU pave the way for staff in the directorate to pursue doctoral studies at Yemyung Graduate University, particularly due to its Christian foundation which aligns with the ethical and spiritual guidance needed in counseling.

The visiting delegation from Yemyung Graduate University was led by Prof. Duke O. Ofosu-Anim and Prof. Choongmok Kwak, who both reiterated their institution's commitment to exploring and building lasting collaborations in Ghana. They expressed their excitement about the potential of this partnership to serve as a model for future academic exchanges between Korean and Ghanaian universities.

This partnership is expected to enhance academic development, intercultural understanding, and staff capacity building further positioning Kumasi Technical University as a globally connected institution with a forward-looking approach to education and innovation.

Kumasi Technical University was established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute (K. T. I. ) to offer craft courses. In 1963, the Institute was converted to a non-tertiary Polytechnic status under the Ghana Education Service to start offering, in addition, technician diploma and sub- professional courses.
